High School

Our high school is an energetic community well-suited to students ready to take initiative in developing their talents. Our small class size allows the faculty flexibility in responding to student interests and leadership. For example, in 2004, upon hearing of an opportunity to meet with the Dalai Lama in California, students began studying his autobiography and three made the trip to his conference.

The Waldorf high school curriculum is a carefully structured course of study that requires every student to achieve a significant level of competence in mathematics, science, literature, history and foreign languages. The goal is to ensure that our students experience the breadth of academic disciplines, in complement with artistic exploration and practical expression.

• Every student experiences academic, artistic and practical classes for a well-rounded education.

• Pedagogy is based on developmental stages of adolescence.

• The curriculum is taught by specialists using primary sources.

• Science curriculum is experientially based. Students do actual observations and experiments to derive the concepts of scientific principle.

• Subjects are presented in two formats: short intensive block units and ongoing skills tracksCommunity service is a valued part of a student's experience.
