Movement, Athletics
& Team Sports

Seattle Waldorf High School’s approach to movement and athletics is derived from the same understanding of adolescence that informs our curricula. Our physical education program acknowledges the students’ changing relation to space. In our movement classes, we aim at developing greater ease, flow and balance, strength and stamina.

In addition to traditional activities such as volleyball, shooting hoops, conditioning and running, our students engage in innovative physical activities and games. Space ball, ultimate (Frisbee®), rock climbing, and Spacial Dynamics are introduced and practiced, resulting in an enlivened and joyful school experience. Students are challenged to work towards greater harmony rather than challenging each other.

Twice a week, students attend Eurythmy class, a unique approach to movement art that brings the essence of music and language to visible manifestation. A deeper soul experience is brought forth and unfolds in motion, gesture, color, and space. Eurythmy, a relatively young art form, was developed a little over 80 years ago. Today, it is performed worldwide by professional eurythmists.

We offer the opportuity to participate on interscholastic sports teams. Current offerings include boys' and girls' cross-country, girls' volleyball, boys' basketball and coed Ultimate (Frisbee®).
