Preschool Program Details

Our preschool hosts up to eight children daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children should be three years old by September 1, prior to the beginning of the school year, and should be potty trained. Parents may choose a two-day or three-day program. The preschool follows the Seattle Waldorf School calendar.

Our Marigold and Lupine teacher, Martha Swain, brings a loving, enthusiastic presence to the preschool, a deep interest in child development, four years of kindergarten work at SWS and her own mothering experience. She earned her Masters of Education and Waldorf teaching certificate from Antioch University New England, and annually attends a Waldorf teaching conference.

Our Daffodil and Sunflower teacher, Gina Burger combines her gentle, loving approach with her interest in young children and experience teaching in a Waldorf home preschool, as well as mothering her two children. She has a B.A. in Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado at Boulder; a Certificate in Wetlands Studies from the UW, and completed her Waldorf teacher training at Sound Circle Center.

There will be monthly parent evenings held throughout the school year. This is a time for sharing questions and resources. We will also explore the foundations of Waldorf early childhood education. Private annual conferences offer parents time to discuss in-depth their child’s development alone with the teacher.
